Job Description Job: Asbestos Surveyor Hours: Monday - Friday 40 hours per week Location: Field Based Join our growing team as an Asbestos Surveyor, where you’ll play a vital role in supporting commercial clients across the UK by assessing, managing, and advising on asbestos-related risks. This is a hands-on, field-based role ideal for someone who enjoys variety, problem-solving, and delivering high‑quality consultancy work. You’ll work closely with our Commercial Operations Manager to ensure exceptional service and compliance standards are consistently met. Key Responsibilities Conduct asbestos consultancy work at client sites across the UK (and occasionally abroad), including surveying, sampling, and data recording. Provide expert advice to clients on asbestos findings, including safe management, remediation options, and ongoing compliance. Follow internal procedures and SGS quality, health & safety, and environmental standards to achieve operational excellence. Deliver high‑quality reports and ensure samples reach the Wolverhampton laboratory within required timelines. Collaborate with the Commercial Operations Manager and support continuous improvement, team development, and promotion of SGS services. Qualifications Essential Requirements Minimum 4 years’ experience as a commercial asbestos surveyor, including work within hospitals, schools, and the retail sector. Flexibility to undertake out‑of‑hours work, including evenings, early starts, and occasional night shifts. Ability and willingness to travel UK‑wide to complete surveys and fulfil the requirements of the role. Essential BOHS P402 UK Driving Licence or equivalent GCSE A-C or equivalent, Maths and English Desirable CCP (Asbestos) P405 and/or P406 Certificates Health & Safety qualifications – IOSH Project management qualifications SPA & CBRE for working on petroleum sites IPAF Additional Information At SGS, we believe in rewarding our employees for their hard work and commitment.
