Description GENERAL SUMMARY The ASC Registered Nurse – PACU is an essential member of the health care team who is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating, and coordinating the care of patients in the Ambulatory Surgery Center. The RN consistently delivers high-quality patient care during the pre- and post-operative phase of the patient’s stay in the surgery center. Requirements ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION/COMPETENCIES Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Plans and organizes the daily activities of the Pre-operative and PACU areas in accordance with instructions of the clinical director, physicians and the center’s administrative procedures. Responsible for the provision of a safe environment by following the post anesthesia standards of care. Communicates the patient’s current status to the appropriate parties throughout the continuum of care. Performs interventions to maintain the status of the patient’s genitourinary, gastrointestinal, musculoskeletal, endocrine, respiratory, cardiovascular, and neurological systems and fluid, electrolyte, and acid-base balances at or above baseline levels. Performs interventions to protect the patient from surgical site infection. Assesses and provides appropriate and knowledgeable instructions/training/education to patients and family members throughout the perioperative process. Reports and documents all pertinent observations and nursing interventions. Performs other position related duties as assigned. Employees shall adhere to high standards of ethical conduct and will comply with and assist in complying with all applicable laws and regulations. This will include and not be limited to following the Solaris Health Code of Conduct and all Solaris Health and Affiliated Practice policies and procedures; maintaining the confidentiality of patients' protected health information in compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA); immediately reporting any suspected concerns and/or violations to a supervisor and/or the Compliance Department; and the timely completion the Annual Compliance Training. CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSURES OR REGISTRY REQUIREMENTS RN license and certification as required by state. BLS certification required, ACLS required. KNOWLEDGE | SKILLS | ABILITIES Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Delivers exceptional patient service throughout all interactions. Knowledge in healthcare systems operations such as EMR. Complies with HIPAA regulations for patient confidentiality. Complies with all health and safety policies of the organization. EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS Graduate from an accredited school of nursing, BSN preferred. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS 2 years' pre-operative/post-anesthesia experience preferred.
