The Opportunity: Position: Casual Bus Driver Department: Transportation Internal/External: External Employment Type: Casual Union: CUPE 1253 Hours: Up to 40 Hours per week Reports to: Manager, Transportation Location: Opportunities will be distributed between our various bus routes Qualifications: Graduation from High School Driver’s license with a clear driving record, a good medical record with no heart conditions. Strong orientation towards safety and good interpersonal and communication skills. Current and previous employers may be contacted as part of your regular screening process. Selected candidates will be required to complete a week-long District training course. To operate a school bus, you will require a class 2BE driver’s license. If you do not currently have a class 2BE license, we provide all required training to help you obtain one. The process involves: Complete a 5-day training course, obtain a clean criminal record check, vulnerable sector check, a drivers abstract, a vision test, a written test, and a road test. Once a 2BE license is obtained, we provide paid behind the wheel training, and reimbursement for most licensing costs. Employment with Anglophone East offers: 4-hour minimum call-in Typically, the same model of bus (automatic transmission) Potential to park the bus at your home, or a nearby depot An average day consists of a morning shift and an afternoon shift Casual bus drivers can pick and choose work assignments Paid sick day accrual (1.5 days per month once you become full time). 4% Vacation pay paid on every pay deposit (bi-weekly) Paid training on routes Paid "snow days" (provided you were previously scheduled to work). Responsibilities
Casual Bus Drivers are responsible for transporting students safely to and from school. They will operate various bus routes as assigned and ensure a positive and safe environment for students.
