Job Summary The Aseptic Tank Farm Supervisor is the person responsible for the safe, efficient, and quality processing of citrus juices, blends, and oils on their respective shift. The ATF Supervisor must ensure that employees are trained and adhere to safety, quality, and food safety practices as well as standard operating procedures always. The ATF Supervisor must have the ability to act quickly and decisively to avoid production constraints. The supervisor must report any non-standard conditions or down time that requires timely escalation to their immediate supervisor/manager for resolution along with corrective action recommendations. The ATF Supervisor will monitor employees reporting to them. The ATF Supervisor will report directly to the ATF Manager. The ATF Supervisor must be able to work any shift including weekends and holidays. Primary Responsibilities Food Safety is the responsibility of all Ventura Coastal manufacturing employees. All Ventura Coastal manufacturing employees must be aware of CCPs in their area and how to document them appropriately. All staff must report food safety and quality problems to their immediate supervisor in charge during their shift. Responsible to a specific CCP in the HACCP plan regarding: CCP #1 – Pasteurization and Sterilization of NFC & Pulp. CCP #2 – Juice Load/unload Out and or Packaging Screens. CCP #3 – Receipt of empty or full tanker, loading and unloading tanker. This task is done by an operator, supervisor, Asst Plant Manager, Manager, Concentrate Operating or Sr. Production Clerk. CCP #4 – Packaging Integrity. Direct and coordinate the activities of employees engaged in the production of citrus juices, oils and blends. Train employees to perform production duties emphasizing safety and quality. Schedule each employee’s work on a daily and weekly basis to ensure that production and product delivery schedules are met. Follow up to ensure satisfactory completion. Report immediately any non-standard personnel or production issues to the ATF Managers along with recommended solutions. Communicate as necessary with maintenance or laboratory technicians to resolve maintenance or quality issues. Promote safety in the department and ensure that production personnel adhere to all safety regulations including the wearing of all essential personal protective equipment. Ensure that all production personnel follow food safety and personal hygiene practices. Provide written and oral positive and constructive feedback to employees on a regular basis to improve individual employee performance. Resolve employee relations issues to maintain positive employee morale. Maintain a positive attitude promoting enthusiasm and teamwork. Supervise plant personnel in accordance with the provisions in the Collective Bargaining Agreement, Act professionally towards customers, vendors, and other visitors to the plant. Demonstrate reliable attendance, consistent punctuality, and a positive attitude always. Ensure operators complete forms, tank farm inspections, and shift reports in a timely manner. Perform other duties as assigned and required. Qualifications & Education Requirements Three years of demonstrated leadership experience, preferably in a food processing facility. Bachelor of Science in Food Science, Agriculture, Engineering (or a related discipline) or equivalent successful work experience. Proficiency in Microsoft office products: Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and large-scale ERP applications is a must. Possess a valid forklift license or can obtain one. The ability to meet flexible and changing priorities and schedules, and the ability to work under pressure is a must. Must be able to make rational decisions on the fly. Know when to get upper management support involved in a timely manner on serious or potentially serious issues. (Including HR, Production, Quality, Mechanical/Downtime Issues, etc.) Ability to anticipate problems with production schedules, equipment, etc. Knowledge of citrus related production equipment. Oral and written communication skills. Bilingual skills (English/Spanish) a major plus. Capable of administering the Collective Bargaining Agreement with respect to overtime scheduling and daily work assignments. Understand UPC (under pressure cleaning) tank farms. Knowledge of pressurization and depressurization of aseptic tanks. Complete understanding of sterilizer’s and HTST. Complete understanding of ice gen machines. Understand the ATF tanks risk and make quick decisions to avoid equipment and product loss. Physical Requirements The ability to meet flexible and changing priorities and schedules, and the ability to work under pressure is a must. 80% of the time in a normal office environment at a desk or working at a computer terminal. 20% of the time is spent walking, climbing stairs, and ladders in an ATF plant environment. The supervisor may be on call. Compensation Range: $71,00 - $75,000 annually (bonus potential for achieving performance goals.) Salary offers will vary and will be determined by the candidate’s work experience, education, skills, and certifications.
