Description

Beamish Construction is looking for a hard-working, self-motivated employee with a proven record of safety and reliability to fill the position of Truck Driver in the Sudbury area. This is a full-time seasonal position available with an extensive benefits package. Wage rates will be based on experience.

EDUCATION:

  • Valid AZ or DZ license with a clean driver’s abstract is required (preference will be given to AZ Drivers).
  • Minimum 1 year AZ / DZ driving experience.
  • Prior experience operating asphalt distribution trucks and knowledge of asphalt application techniques is considered an asset.
  • High school diploma or equivalent is considered an asset.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers. Including the ability to take direction from supervisors.
  • Familiar with open pit and mine operations as well as aggregates.
  • Ability to do physical labour and other strenuous physical tasks.
  • Ability to adapt to last-minute changes as dictated by the needs of our customers.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.
  • Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
Responsibilities
  • Safely operate distributor truck to apply asphalt and emulsions to road surfaces.
  • Load, unload, and maintain proper application of materials.
  • Maintain accurate electronic hours of service and vehicle inspection logs in accordance with MTO regulations, and all related delivery paperwork.
  • Perform daily pre-op and post-op inspections on equipment and attend daily safety meetings.
  • Follow project schedules and work closely with paving crews.
  • Constantly monitor vehicle fitness, load security, and ever-changing conditions.
  • Complete daily inspections and reporting of production.
  • Identify, report and correct hazards.
  • Operate two-way radios and other communication equipment.
  • Team player and display professionalism toward our company and customers.
  • Physical work including lifting (up to 50 lbs), bending, crouching, climbing, crawling and reaching repeatedly throughout the workday.
  • Maintain a clean and tidy work environment and equipment.
  • Work schedule including evenings and weekends when required.
  • Work in inclement weather conditions.
  • Travel to various job sites including out of town with overnight stays when required.
  • Work in accordance with all internal, client and regulated health and safety policies, procedures and/or regulations, including wearing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor.
