Description

Reporting to the Paving Superintendent, the Asphalt Patching Foreman is the team leader and therefore, has a direct impact on the company’s overall success of field activities. The Foreman will assist the Superintendent in managing field operations through planning, coordinating, and with limited supervision, execute key functions, while also performing actual tasks.

SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Ability to read and understand blueprints, specifications, schedules and, costing reports
  • Thorough understanding of construction procedures and safety practices
  • Extensive knowledge of proper equipment utilization, operation and maintenance
  • 3 years’ experience in a Foreman position
  • Construction Safety Training System (CSTS2020) Certification.
  • Valid First Aid.
  • Taken LSE, Prime Contracting, and PHISM.
  • Self-motivating and able to complete tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Understand and follow verbal and written directions.
  • Strong work ethic with demonstrated dedication and reliability.
  • Problem solving and decision-making capabilities.
  • Must be able to work as a member of a greater team.

    Pay: $45.00-$48.00 per hour

Responsibilities
  • Train, mentor, and develop direct reports to build a strong team.
  • Perform on-site coordination of manpower, materials, and equipment to complete the project.
  • Ensure all applicable environmental regulations are adhered to throughout the construction process.
  • Document all pertinent project information, including weather, site conditions, employee issues, conversations with inspectors, owner’s representatives, and consultant representatives, and changes in scope.
  • Review grade sheets for accuracy.
  • Review and submit electronic timesheets daily.
  • Behaves in a manner that ensures the safety of themselves, their co-workers, and others on the work sites.
  • Reports incidents, injuries, and near misses and participates in the investigative process.
  • Assists other employees when required.
  • Attends and participates in toolbox and safety committee meetings as scheduled.
  • Adheres to company policies, procedures, and directions regarding standards of workplace behaviour in completing job duties and assignments.
  • Complies with the standards and procedures of North Star’s health and safety manual and Occupational Health and Safety regulations.
