Downer is seeking an experienced Asphalt Plant Foreman to oversee the day‑to‑day operations of our production plant in Mackay. This role is critical to ensuring consistent asphalt production, plant reliability, and the highest safety and quality standards to support our surfacing and pavements projects. This is a hands‑on leadership role where you will supervise plant operations, coordinate production activities, and work closely with maintenance, laboratory, logistics, and project delivery teams to meet operational demands. Key Responsibilities * Lead and supervise daily plant operations to achieve production targets and customer requirements. * Coordinate asphalt production schedules in line with demands and raw material availability. * Monitor plant performance, production quality and outputs to ensure compliance with specifications. * Manage and support plant operators and crew, fostering a strong safety first culture. * Ensure all activities comply with Downer’s Zero Harm safety standards, environmental requirements and company procedures. * Liaise closely with maintenance teams to maximise plant reliability, uptime and preventative maintenance outcomes. * Prepare production reports and contribute to short term planning and continuous improvement initiatives. * Maintain effective communication with Supervisors, laboratory, transport and compliance teams.   What You’ll Bring * Demonstrate experience in asphalt plant operations, fixed plant or similar heavy industrial environments. * Strong understanding of asphalt production processes, materials and quality control requirements. * Proven experience in a supervisory or foreman role, leading teams in an operational setting. * Sound knowledge of plant safety systems, risk management and compliance obligations. * Front End Loader or Skid Steer ticket highly regarded  * Ability to troubleshoot plant and production issues in a fast‑paced environment  * Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities  * Confident communication style with the ability to build strong working relationships across teams  * Good computer literacy with experience in production reporting and operational data systems  * Proactive mindset with a commitment to continuous improvement and operational excellence   Downer is a company that believes people are our greatest asset.
