Description Position Overview We are seeking a skilled Asphalt Plant Operator to oversee the production and load-out of asphalt materials. This role is responsible for ensuring plant equipment operates efficiently, maintaining product quality, and supporting daily operations including inventory, reporting, and basic maintenance. This position requires working at heights and in outdoor conditions. What You’ll Do Operate the asphalt plant according to production schedules and mix designs Monitor material production to ensure consistent quality Control the flow of materials through conveyors, chutes, pumps, and storage bins Load hot mix asphalt into haul trucks and oversee truck scales Read and generate delivery tickets for customers Maintain daily production, inventory, and maintenance records Perform routine inspections and basic plant maintenance Identify and escalate major equipment issues to leadership Assist with material ordering and inventory control Keep the control house and plant site clean and organized Enter production data into computer systems Support team operations and take on additional duties as needed What We’re Looking For Education & Experience High school diploma or GED preferred 1–2 years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience Knowledge & Skills Working knowledge of asphalt plant operations, equipment, and safety practices Basic mechanical and troubleshooting skills Ability to prioritize and manage tasks in a fast-paced environment Strong communication skills and ability to direct others when needed Ability to read, write, and perform basic math calculations Welding experience (arc welder or torch) is a plus Commitment to safety and adherence to company policies Work Environment Exposure to moving mechanical parts, outdoor elements, and temperature extremes Occasional exposure to dust, fumes, and chemicals Moderate to loud noise levels Typical schedule is Monday–Saturday, with frequent overtime (60+ hours/week) and occasional weekends/holidays Benefits Competitive pay Medical, dental, vision, disability, and life insurance Retirement savings program Health and wellness programs Paid time off (PTO) Paid holidays Requirements Work Requirements Valid driver’s license required Ability to pass a post-offer drug screen, physical, background check, and MVR review Willingness to work extended hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed Ability to travel and work away from home when required Must wear required PPE in designated areas Team-oriented with a professional, respectful attitude Physical Demands Ability to sit, stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl Ability to work at heights and maneuver on equipment safely Lift and carry up to 50 lbs occasionally (10–25 lbs frequently) Use hands and arms to operate controls and handle materials Visual abilities include close, distance, color, and depth perception Ability to work in all weather conditions The statements included in this job description are not intended to be all-inclusive.
