ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:  * Performs complete assay of asphalt products using ASTM and AASHTO standards to generate analysis certificates and support product quality * Carries out physical and chemical tests on asphalt binders and emulsions to support product development efforts * Assists asphalt scientists with research studies and experiments by collecting data * Participates in the AASHTO resource accreditation process and proficiency sample program   * Operates, calibrates, and performs basic maintenance on testing equipment * Assists with the lab production and testing of asphalt emulsions and modified binders  * Evaluates physical properties of industrial products as needed  * Communicates clearly in written and spoken English  * Keeps a detailed laboratory notebook * Assists with project file data entry * Maintains cleanliness of work areas * Demonstrates acceptable level of knowledge of laboratory safety * Observes and complies with all Hunt safety policies and procedures  * Performs other tasks as designated by supervision EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE  An associate degree and two years of experience testing asphalt binders/emulsions or equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous asphalt binder/emulsion testing certifications with professional laboratory experience is preferred.  REASONING ABILITY  Analytical and critical reasoning skills to evaluate test results, recognize abnormal or inconsistent data, and determine whether discrepancies may be due to data errors, instrument calibration issues, or other factors. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS  Must have a valid driver license. Must qualify with the Asphalt Institute as a national binder and emulsion technician.  PHYSICAL DEMANDS  The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Must be able to lift 50 pounds maximum infrequently, lift and carry up to 30 pounds frequently.  Requires reaching, handling, fingering and feeling. Must be able to stoop, kneel, and/or crouch on an infrequent basis.  Walks and stands on tile floors for the majority of the workday. #LI-HuntRefining The Hunt family of companies are a privately owned group of entities that include oil and gas exploration and production, refining, LNG, power, renewables, real estate, ranching and infrastructure.
