Description
Westport in Cambridge, Ont. designs and manufactures a comprehensive product mix of alternative fuel components for applications in the light and heavy-duty vehicle and industrial segments globally. This product mix includes Hydrogen (H2) and Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) components such as pressure regulators, tank valves, PRD's, PRV’s, shutoff valves and integrated systems for a wide range of applications, including Fuel Cell vehicles.es. Overview The Assembler role is responsible for assembling hydrogen components, performing quality checks, and completing end-of-line testing to ensure products meet required standards. The position focuses on supporting daily production activities, maintaining a safe and organized work area, and contributing to efficient manufacturing operations. Position Responsibilities: * Assemble components * Conduct end of line testing of components * Package assemblies into shipping cartons * Conduct quality inspections on components when necessary * Other duties as required to support the team Health & Safety Responsibilities: * Promote Westport’s H&S culture following all Environmental , and H&S procedures and understanding your obligations and responsibilities * Report unsafe conditions, behaviors and all accidents * Co-operate with JHSC (Joint Health & Safety Committee) and Safety representative Position Requirements: * Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in mechanical assembly or a related field. * Familiarity with hand and power tools used in the assembly process.  * Experience with 5S and lean manufacturing practices. * Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral). * Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. * Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics considered a strong asset.  * Computer experience with Microsoft products and ERP systems considered an asset. * Experience with inspecting parts considered an asset. * Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Physical Requirements / Working Conditions: * Lift and carry up to 25 lbs. * Use various hand tools, including torque wrenches and small presses. * Perform physical tasks such as bending, reaching, torquing fasteners, and visually inspecting and measuring components. * Stand for extended periods (up to 8 hours per shift). * Occasionally perform office-related tasks, including computer use, requiring finger dexterity for keyboard and calculator operation. * Move throughout the building to interact with team members and support production activities.
