These products deliver front-line capabilities for today’s warfighter and define the future of the air wing with fixed-wing strike, training, autonomy and crewed-uncrewed teaming.
Employees are participants in a full-time company sponsored on-the-job training program. The Assembly Mechanic Apprentice program helps learners develop the skills needed to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Assignments are structured to provide learning experiences that lead to a course completion within a skill area.
The apprenticeship has 4 pathways: Structural, Electrical, Mechanical, and Composites.
The Composites cohort is a 12-week program. Upon completion the candidate will have successfully demonstrated the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the work of a Composites Assembly Mechanic, to include, interpreting model-based drawings and blueprints, following work instructions, working with high-performance materials like fiberglass, carbon fiber, and epoxy resins, honeycomb and identifying all required hand tools, parts and equipment to accomplish defect-free work and ensuring structural integrity and safety. This involves understanding composite layup techniques, curing processes, and surface finishing, with a focus on quality control and precision.
WHAT IS THE EXPERIENCE?
As an apprentice, you’ll join with other apprentices in a cohort and go through experiences together, learning Boeing, aerospace, and core Assembly fundamentals. Additionally, managers and mentors will support progress through the personal skills roadmap, learning and demonstrating new skills through hands-on application with project teams.
During the apprenticeship duration, you will initially complete a highly rigorous and accelerated learning program tailored to develop foundational skills across manufacturing and assembly. At the conclusion of the program, successful candidates will have the chance to convert to a union-represented Assembly Mechanic position where your skills will be enhanced with training and on-the-job learning tailored for a specific program.
