PROFILE SUMMARY

The VAS (Value-Added Services) Assembly Specialist is a general hand in the VAS team of GN Corporation’s Operations Department.
Under the direct supervision of a VAS Team Leader, the VAS Assembly Specialist is responsible for ensuring that all required assembly jobs/tasks and where necessary, testing activities are performed as per the work instructions and BDMI (Basic Design and Maintenance Instructions) in a timely, efficient, and safe environment, while maintaining quality standards of GN and its Customers.
The VAS Assembly Specialist is expected to possess in-depth knowledge of the procedures of all assembly activities and must also assist h/her Team Leader and the VAS Supervisor to ensure that safety rules and procedures are strictly followed by assembly team members.

MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma - Minimum
  • 5 years of mechanical assembly experience in one or more GN Value-Added Services process(es)
  • Keen attention to detail.
  • Must be able to work independently and as part of a team with project timelines.
  • Familiar with power and hand tools
  • Working knowledge of relevant industry standards
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting assembly drawings.
  • Awareness of and appreciation for the process of Continuous Improvement
  • Physically capable of performing the essential duties of the job and lifting up-to 50lb.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
Responsibilities

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Occupational Health and Safety – Understanding and applying the GN Corporations Inc. Health and Safety policy as well as being responsible for his/her own health and safety at work, to avoid adversely affecting the health and safety of others through any act or omission.
  • Industry Standards and Regulations – Being familiar with all relevant industry standards, recommended practices, and regulations. Monitoring self-compliance with company, industry and government requirements as well as promoting their acceptance in all aspects of GN’s business-related activities.

Specific duties, and responsibilities of the VAS Assembly Specialist shall include the following:

  • Perform equipment setup and calibration to comply with industry and company standards.
  • Perform visual and dimensional inspection necessary to ensure component-level conformity prior to assembly.
  • Maintain inventory of parts waiting for assembly
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, bill of materials, and other written instructions or procedures to accurately perform assembly activities.
  • Perform tests to verify the quality of the assembly.
  • Ensure assigned jobs/tasks are completed in timely manner in conformance with standard cycle times.
  • Produce assembly and testing records to ensure identification and traceability requirements are met.
  • Perform all work in accordance with quality standards and established safe work practices.
  • Ensure that all findings are brought to the attention of the appropriate personnel.
  • Maintain assembly equipment in good condition.
  • Duties as directed by the Supervisor.
  • Assist in resolving process and product quality issues.
  • Perform other activities as required to support the Operations Department’s and GN’s objectives.
  • Evaluate identified risks/hazards and recommend practices to change them into opportunities.
  • Ensure safety guidelines are followed.
  • Assist the VAS Supervisor in assigning tasks within the assembly team to specific employees based on task and required skill set
