THE MISSION

Munich-based OroraTech is developing a constellation of nano-satellites with thermal infrared cameras for automated wildfire detection, severe weather warnings and many other applications. After our FOREST-1 mission (launched in Jan. 2022) and FOREST-2 (launch in June 2023), the next step is to launch FOREST-3 (Okt. 2024) and the first constellation plane of 8 systems (early 2025).
We are looking for talented professionals to support us with the second constellation plane based on our inhouse developed platform FOREST-3. Your tasks will be integration and testing of our cameras and spacecraft, putting together structure parts, electronics, PCBs, and optical parts. You will be joining a very motivated and highly enthusiastic team of experts in the fields of mechanical, optics, electronics, spacecraft, and software engineering.

RELEVANT SKILLS

  • Significant hands-on experience in assembling complex and/or precise mechanical systems.
  • Strong craftsmanship to ensure quality and reliability, complemented by the ability to effectively interpret technical drawings and CAD models.
  • Proven understanding of electronics and electrical systems, including circuits, wiring, and components. Experience in soldering and harnessing is a plus.
  • Experience with running Python scripts on Linux systems is a plus.
  • Strong analytical skills for anticipating problems and developing solutions, including the ability to diagnose and resolve issues during integration campaigns.
  • Proficiency in maintaining an organized workflow, while managing multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Excellent communication skills, fluent in English, German is a plus.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team in a highly collaborative environment.
  • Knowledge of safety practices for handling sensitive equipment in laboratory settings, along with familiarity with cleanroom standards and ESD precautions is a plus.
Responsibilities

As an Assembly and Integration Technician you will:

  • Assemble various satellite components, including structural elements, electronics and subsystems, following detailed specifications and procedures.
  • Identify and resolve problems encountered during integration, perform thorough inspections, quality assurance checks and initial troubleshooting.
  • Maintain detailed records of assembly processes, inspections, test results and any improvements made during integration. This documentation is critical to maintaining a high level of quality control and regulatory compliance.
  • You will ensure order and safe working practices in the cleanroom and promote a clean and organized workspace.
  • You will work closely with engineers and other technicians to understand system requirements and provide feedback on AIT processes and procedures so that lessons learnt can be incorporated into future projects.
