Role
Do you have a passion for teaching, learning, and helping others succeed in the field of Carpentry and Joinery? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as an Assessor. Our dynamic and forward-thinking College is seeking a motivated individual to deliver high-quality training and assessment on Carpentry and Joinery Apprenticeships both on college sites and within the workplace.
As our Assessor in Carpentry and Joinery, you will be responsible for working with a diverse group of learners and employers to deliver high-quality training and assessments. This is a truly rewarding role that offers you the chance to use your skills and experience to make a real difference in people’s lives. You will have the opportunity to help learners and apprentices develop their professional skills and reach their full potential, while also enhancing their career prospects.
You will be responsible for managing your own caseload of learners and apprentices, ensuring that they are making progress and achieving their goals.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Level 3 Carpentry and Joinery qualification or equivalent.
  • Assessor qualification (A1, TAQA or equivalent).
  • Ability to deliver high-quality teaching, assessment and learning on Carpentry and Joinery Apprenticeships
  • Possess sufficient breadth and/or depth of specialist knowledge and trade experience of Carpentry and Joinery
  • Appropriate knowledge of NVQ Carpentry and Joinery
  • Ability to work with a case load of learners in the workplace environment and on site at college. Working collaboratively with teaching staff.
Responsibilities
  • Delivery and assessing of competence-based training including group or classroom-based sessions, in the workplace or College environment.
  • Set, mark, and assess students’ work, ensuring that learning outcomes have been met and that feedback is both detailed and constructive.
  • Keep up to date with relevant course subject matter, industrial/commercial developments, course examination/assessment requirements, and legislation.
  • To adopt a flexible approach to the delivery of duties, working out of hours if necessary to meet the operational demands of employers and learners.
  • Use technology, including the college’s virtual learning environment, effectively to enable independent learning at any time or place.
  • Set and mark homework or completed work in accordance with College policy and undertake exam invigilation as required.
  • Be an active member of course/subject teams and attend Directorate and College meetings, as required, in order to contribute to the decision-making process and to develop productive working relationships within and across teams.
