OVERVIEW

We are seeking a mid-level Asset Improvement Engineer with strong mechanical engineering and asset management experience, ideally from industrial or chemical environments. In this role the Asset Improvement Engineer will execute strategic asset programs, including mechanical, control systems, structural, electrical, and instrumentation projects. As a subject matter expert in mechanical asset management within the Technology & Improvement department, the incumbent will develop and implement asset management strategies and initiatives to enhance operational performance. This role involves influencing and enabling stakeholders through effective communication, asset integrity methodologies, and comprehensive asset lifecycle support to achieve business objectives. Salary will be commensurate with experience.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be clean-shaven in areas where facial hair would interfere with the proper fit and seal of a respirator. This includes no beards, goatees, mustaches that extend below the top lip or excessive sideburns.
  • Occasionally ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, etc. and moving self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments
  • Constant prolonged periods of remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Constantly walking long distances from one worksite to another and working in outdoor weather conditions
  • Occasionally lifting or moving objects up to 20 pounds in all directions

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Asset Improvement Engineer requires a degree in Engineering, preferably with a focus in Mechanical discipline.
  • Minimum of 4 years of engineering experience in an industrial or chemical environment required.
  • A thorough knowledge of plant operations, equipment, and processes is preferred.
  • Ability to present ideas, good verbal and written communication skills, and good human relations skills are required.
  • Internal candidates must have received an MX or above in their most recent performance evaluation and no active corrective action documentation

Responsibilities
  • Develop and manage medium-long-term asset management plans for plant assets to achieve business objectives (Safe, Low Cost, Quality Production)
  • Prepare and effectively administer budgets for projects/programs and identify opportunities for reducing costs.
  • Follow change management processes (e.g. drawing updates) and support of the drawing office
  • Supports Operations in project execution by completing maintainability analysis and operational readiness activities.
  • Project Management and execution of asset improvement and asset integrity projects (i.e. multi-discipline engineering)
  • Completes life cycle costing analysis of plant assets to determine the optimum whole-of-life asset strategy.
  • Hold influence and governance for the statutory compliance and inspection process, developing and defining methods and processes of inspection.
  • Assist maintenance in the development of repair SOW for mechanical equipment and mechanical infrastructure.
  • Monitor quality of inspection and manage standards for compliance.
  • Ensure the optimal reliability of the plant by effectively implementing asset management and maintenance improvement programs.
  • Supports the Maintenance Reliability engineer in development of the mechanical asset strategies.
  • Review and approve all project mechanical designs.
  • Develop plant standards and specifications that meet or exceed industry standards.
