Description:
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Support the Asset Improvement Lead and Fleet team to identify and deliver improvement initiatives or changes as required.
- Develop and deliver simple continuous improvement initiatives supporting the delivery of larger and more complex initiatives, ensuring that the agreed milestones and targets are delivered.
- Participation in a wider network of Lean experts across the organisation to promote success stories, share best practice and advocate Lean behaviours and development opportunities
- Lead by example and demonstrate the effectiveness and benefits of adopting lean work practices e.g problem solving.
- Engage with stakeholders - promote, coach and monitor the adoption of tools and Lean continuous improvement practices (e.g. depot staff, engineering, senior management, etc.)
- Support development of systems to standardise processes and ensure improvements in performance, cost and efficiency are measurable, demonstrated, delivered and sustained and do not adversely affect other areas e.g safety.
- Attend and support performance review meetings (’Viz’ meetings) observing behaviour, analysing data and improving metrics
- Support the identification, definition and sourcing of data and KPIs for fleet to use to measure, visualise and improve finance and operational performance; develop and maintain dashboards and reports to empower staff at all levels to visualise data to gain actionable insights and make better decisions.
- Support, encourage and monitor a standardised approach to collaboration, document and records management within fleet
SKILLS
- Demonstrable skill in building CI culture and applying Lean tools, techniques and behaviours (e.g. green belt or similar level qualification) (essential)
- Good ability to examine & solve complex problems using a range of techniques (essential)
- Financial and commercial awareness (essential)
- Have commitment and enthusiasm for change, with the tenacity and resilience to overcome opposition.
- Good ability to effectively influence and manage numerous stakeholders. Excellent written and verbal communication and presentational skills.
- Particularly demonstrable ability to present complex data and information clearly and appropriately for the audience.
- Analysing complex data to produce clear actionable insights.
- Development of interactive dashboards, reports and apps using the Microsoft Power platform. To be able to work on own initiative and as part of a team and be able to make decisions.
KNOWLEDGE
- An awareness of TfL fleet operations and ways of working with support functions (e.g. through production, stores or operational experience).Good awareness of statistical analysis techniques or visualisation tools, e.g. the use of advanced spreadsheet and database skills, or the use of data visualisation dashboards.
- Business Analysis and Stakeholder Management including confident presentation of ideas and thoughts to non-technical audiences.Familiarity with data protection and GDPR.
- Graduate level and/or Appropriate Management/Engineering/IT Qualification or relevant work experience (desirable)
- Software development methodologies e.g. Agile and Software version control (preferred)
- Awareness of IT systems; Asset management (Maximo), Enterprise Management system (SAP) (preferred)
- Good knowledge of designing continuous improvement initiatives that have lasting results.
- Awareness of planning and planning tools.
EXPERIENCE
- Some experience of delivering improvement initiatives in an operational environment. Ability to take a continuous improvement initiative from feasibility through to successful delivery, generating and maintaining business support.
- Some experience in end-to-end development of digital solutions for data analysis and visualisation e.g. dashboards, interactive reports, apps.
- Some experience of improving processes and information flows within a large business
Responsibilities:
This role which sits within the Maintenance Modernisation team in Asset Performance Directorate (APD) Fleet and exists to provide support to the Asset Improvement Lead in delivering and enabling improvements which drive progress against core business objectives for APD Fleet. A key focus will be to design, deliver and maintain digital solutions that enable staff at all levels of the Fleet organisation to improve performance and reduce non-value-added activity.
