About the role In this role, you will support the management of Council’s asset portfolio by coordinating asset data, including inputs for valuations, revaluations and depreciation. You will also contribute to the periodic review of asset unit rates and useful lives. You will help maintain the asset register and provide analysis and advice that supports sound asset accounting and infrastructure decision-making across the City. You will also be at the Council as we transition to a new enterprise asset management system, where your experience, skills and input will be invaluable. Key responsibilities include: * Contributing to accurate maintenance of Council asset register, specifically consistent unit rates, useful lives. * Continual improvement of data and process for asset revaluation. * Project manage revaluation of asset categories according to timetable as specified in the Asset Accounting policy. * Complete update of revaluations into the asset register and provide reports on the accounting implications of the revaluations to executive management and the audit and risk committee. * Develop, maintain and ensure continuous improvement of asset system, e.g. tables, asset hierarchy / structures, procedures, testing of software upgrades, interfaces, reporting, forecasting, etc. About you To be successful in this role, you will have a Tertiary qualification or current study towards completion of an Asset Management or Commerce / Accounting degree or diploma plus several years’ experience in local government asset management / asset accounting. Essential: * Knowledge and understanding of asset management systems / principles. Proficient in the use of Asset Management Systems and asset valuation within them.  * Experience in local government or large public sector organisation. * Ability to prepare accurate and timely asset reports. * Ability to liaise with and gain the cooperation of staff across the organisation to maintain an accurate asset register on a timely basis. * Experience in asset accounting principles, procedures and requirements. * Experience with asset revaluations. * Sound financial reconciliations skills.
