What We are Looking For: Bender Companies is seeking a motivated Asset Management Intern interested in growing within the Real Estate sector. Ideal candidates should be detail-oriented, reliable, and eager to learn. A keen eye for detail and strong analytical skills are essential for conducting tenant and property audits, as well as expense analysis. A commitment to professional development and a desire to contribute to our financial operations are key to success in this role. Dates: Internship will take place between June 1st to July 31st Position Overview: As an Asset Management Intern, you will play a critical role in supporting the accuracy, efficiency, and compliance of our multifamily property operations. This paid internship offers hands-on experience in both asset management and acquisitions, with the majority of your time spent in the asset management department. As part of the program, you will complete a rotation with the acquisitions team to gain exposure to deal sourcing, underwriting fundamentals, and the due diligence process. Your responsibilities will span various areas of asset management analysis, including tenant, leasing, property, expense, and employee audits, as well as market surveys, rent comparable studies, and lender communication. Responsibilities: Tenant Audits: Conduct thorough Rent Roll audits to verify accurate rents. Monitor tenant security deposits, move-in fees, month-to-month fees, Section-8 payments, and perform facility fee audits. Property Audits: Audit investor reports, unit turn boards, and unit renovation trackers. Track property processes against original underwriting standards. Expense Audits: Conduct audits of key expense accounts and compare spending across the portfolio to identify overspending. Due Diligence: Provide support to Acquisitions team. Rent Comps: Perform rent comp studies for acquisitions. Underwriting: Assist Acquisitions team with underwriting deals and learn some of the basics. Qualifications: Self-motivated, passionate, and intelligent individual with an interest in commercial real estate Independent thinker with an entrepreneurial mindset and desire to solve problems and navigate challenges Keen eye for detail and ability to multi-task Analytical prowess and willingness to learn Strong written and oral communication skills Basic understanding of Excel Have a track record of academic excellence and participation in campus activities Background checks will be performed on all qualified applicants.
