Description The Asset Management Summer Intern will support the Asset Management team in monitoring and managing the Agency’s multifamily and affordable housing portfolio. This internship offers hands-on experience in MF real estate system conversion, financial analysis, property operations, compliance, and reporting; ultimately providing a foundation for a career in real estate finance or public-sector housing. Learning Opportunities Exposure to multifamily loan portfolio management and affordable housing finance. Hands-on experience with financial analysis, property monitoring, regulatory compliance and a MF system conversion. Mentorship from experienced Asset Management professionals. Networking opportunities across DCHFA departments and partner organizations. Requirements RESPONSIBILITIES Assist in reviewing property financial statements, budgets, and operating reports. Support the monitoring of property performance and compliance with DCHFA loan agreements and regulatory requirements. Prepare reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders. Conduct research on market trends, property valuations, and best practices in asset management. Assist with portfolio risk assessments and special projects as needed; such as system conversion tasks. Participate in team meetings and contribute to process improvement initiatives. QUALIFICATIONS Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Real Estate, Economics, Urban Planning, or a related field. Strong analytical skills and attention to detail. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; familiarity with financial modeling a plus. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. Interest in affordable housing, real estate finance, or public-sector asset management.
