Asset Management Engineer – Water Location: Hamilton or Tauranga Te whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity Our Water team works across water supply, wastewater and stormwater systems, partnering with local and central government and utility clients to support the planning, performance and long-term sustainability of critical infrastructure. With significant investment underway across the water sector, this is an exciting opportunity for an intermediate-level asset management professional to build a long-term career. You’ll join a collaborative, high-performing team contributing to evidence-based decisions that shape how water assets are managed for current and future generations. We recognise that flexibility matters, so we’re happy to consider both full‑time and part‑time. Every day will be different, but your role will typically include: Supporting the delivery of asset management projects to meet time, quality and client expectations Working alongside senior asset managers on long-term maintenance and renewal planning Taking ownership of defined components of asset management deliverables, with guidance from senior practitioners Preparing and collating asset management plans, technical reports, improvement programmes and investment documentation Analysing and interpreting asset condition, performance and risk data to inform lifecycle and funding decisions Translating technical and data-driven information into clear, practical insights for stakeholders and project teams Collaborating with engineers, planners and project managers across the wider water and utilities business Contributing to continuous improvement in asset management practices, tools and ways of working About the Team You’ll join a supportive and highly collaborative Water Asset Management team, working alongside engineers, asset management specialists and project managers. The team culture emphasises shared learning, open communication and strong technical support, with access to senior technical leads and Chartered Asset Management Professionals who actively support career development and progression. Ko wai koe | About you You are an experienced asset management professional with experience in the water or wider utilities sector (such as power or other infrastructure environments) and are keen to continue developing your career in asset management. You will ideally bring: Around five years’ experience within the water, utilities or infrastructure sector An engineering, environmental science or analytically‑focused technical background Strong capability in writing, collating and interpreting information, producing clear and well‑structured documentation Experience analysing data and communicating technical information to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders An interest in long‑term infrastructure planning and improving how assets are managed over their lifecycle A proactive mindset with clear motivation to grow your asset management capability A collaborative, team‑focused approach Ngā āhuatanga kei a mātou | What we offer A career with Beca will provide you with: Professional development opportunities.
