KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Support the development of business plans, asset strategies and asset plans (short and long term), considering a wide range of factors including cost, risk, performance and sustainability
  • Work with stakeholders to transform strategies into prioritised project workbanks for delivery
  • Support on the development of all capital and operational expenditure throughout the asset lifecycle, or lead discrete work packages as part of this process
  • Develop problem statements to address asset concerns, project initiation documents and lead on early project lifecycle activity prior to handover to Sponsorship
  • Carry out high quality asset data analysis (e.g. cost, condition, risk) to provide material for presentations, reports and strategies that support and inform conclusions and recommendations
  • Support the development of up-keep of asset lifecycle and degradation models to inform asset lifecycle decisions
  • Support the continuous improvement of asset management processes and approaches
    Skills, Knowledge & Experience (Essential, unless stated Desirable)

  • Good written, verbal and presentation skills
  • Ability to work flexibly and collaboratively across teams as required
  • Proactive and inquisitive with good stakeholder management skills
  • Able to support multiple workstreams simultaneously, working to deadlines
  • Data analysis and modelling skills

KNOWLEDGE

  • Graduate in a relevant subject (or equivalent work experience in a strategic or transport role)
  • Understand the principles of Asset Management (Desirable)
  • Understand the challenges that asset intensive organisations face (transport and/or utility companies) (Desirable)
  • Institute of Asset Management (IAM) Certificate qualification or willingness to obtain

EXPERIENCE

  • Experience of undertaking data analysis, modelling and presenting findings in a simple manner
  • Experience of interpreting different information sources and communicating them effectively
  • Experience in the asset management discipline and/or supporting the development of asset strategies, plans and prioritised work programmes (Desirable)
  • Experience of working in any of the three transport system based disciplines covered by this team – Fleet/Rolling Stock, Signalling and/or Logistics & Manufacturing (Desirable)

Responsibilities

This team focuses on the development and implementation of efficient long-term strategies and investment plans for LU Fleet, Signals and Logistics & Manufacturing assets, balancing the needs of the assets against their allocated budget. These are complex and high-profile assets that require significant investment and a mature approach to asset management. We initiate projects, analyse a lot of data and impacts of investment in order to justify spend and prioritise the capital work bank and investment plans.
