Job Description Lead coverage of breaking/developing news stories both editorially and logistically for both the newsroom and field crews Research, coordinate, pitch & implement coverage of breaking news, continuing coverage and community stories Ability to quickly assess what is needed on coverage of a breaking stories Ability to find & book experts and community members who help define a story Collaborate with the website, social media, and streaming teams Initiate & maintain communication with affiliates & News Channel counterparts Consistently monitor and break news through social media platforms and tools Establish & maintain working story & contact files Working Knowledge of Police Scanners Working knowledge of live production/transmission Able to work independently and as a member of a team Ability to clearly communicate ideas and status updates to both editorial and technical teams Bachelor’s degree in Journalism or Communications. At least 4 years’ experience including: work in a broadcast news environment, coordinating assignments, generating story ideas. Two years’ experience as an Assignment Editor. Proficient in Microsoft Office Programs including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook. Qualifications Working Knowledge of Police Scanners Working knowledge of live production/transmission Able to work independently and as a member of a team Ability to clearly communicate ideas and status updates to both editorial and technical teams Bachelor’s degree in Journalism or Communications. At least 4 years’ experience including: work in a broadcast news environment, coordinating assignments, generating story ideas. Two years’ experience as an Assignment Editor. Proficient in Microsoft Office Programs including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.
