FULL TIME | PERMANENT

Salary: £35,000 per annum + annual company bonus
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 35 hours per week
Location: Winnersh RG41 (Hybrid)
We are seeking a proactive Assistant Accountant to join our Advantage Smollan finance team.
You will support the seamless delivery of accurate month-end processes for multiple UK entities. This role focuses on maintaining robust financial controls and contributing to process improvements.
While this role has no direct reports, occasional out-of-hours work may be required during period-end processes.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelors Degree in Finance or related subject.
  • Working towards a finance qualification ie: AAT, ACCA (Desirable)
  • Proven experience in commercial finance.

SKILLS:

  • Strong Excel skills (vlookups, pivot tables).
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.

TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE:

  • Familiarity with systems such as SAP BPC, Dynamics 365 Finance, Chrome River, Medius Flow, Blackline, and Microsoft Office (desirable).
Responsibilities
  • Complete month-end financial close processes on time and with accuracy.
  • Manage intercompany transactions and reconciliations.
  • Prepare VAT reports and returns.
  • Handle back-office treasury activities, including FX rate postings, loan interests, and intercompany agreements.
  • Post journals for accruals, prepayments, and other provisions.
  • Assist with cost reallocations, fixed assets, and project accounting.
  • Document, standardise, and improve processes.
  • Support external audits and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Collaborate with team members to share knowledge and ensure efficiency.
