As an Assistant Accountant, you’ll support month-end, reporting, and statutory requirements, ensuring our financial data is reliable and well managed.    You’ll work across a broad range of accounting activities, from reconciliations and journals through to audit support and tax compliance. This is a role where attention to detail matters, but so does your ability to improve how things are done. You’ll be encouraged to identify efficiencies, use tools including AI to streamline processes, and contribute to a more effective finance function.  Ko tō mahi – What you will do  Reporting to the Senior Financial Controller, you will support financial accounting processes across month-end, reporting, and compliance. You’ll work closely with the wider Finance team to ensure accurate financial records, timely reporting, and continuous improvement of accounting processes.  Key responsibilities include:   * Completing bank and balance sheet reconciliations to ensure accuracy of financial records * Preparing journals, including accruals, prepayments, payroll, and intercompany transactions * Supporting month-end close and assisting with management reporting * Maintaining the fixed asset register and processing depreciation * Assisting with GST, FBT, and other compliance requirements across New Zealand and Australia * Supporting audit processes through preparation of schedules and documentation * Responding to finance queries and supporting internal stakeholders * Contributing to budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis * Monitoring P Card transactions and supporting policy compliance * Identifying and implementing process improvements, including use of automation and AI tools Nā tōu rourou - What you will bring  Our ideal candidate will demonstrate:   * A couple of years experience in an accounting or finance role * A relevant accounting degree and progress towards CA qualification * Strong understanding of core accounting principles and financial processes * High attention to detail and accuracy across financial tasks * Analytical capability, with the ability to identify and resolve discrepancies * Experience with financial systems such as SAP or similar * Intermediate Excel skills, including data analysis and reporting * Clear communication skills and ability to work across teams * A proactive approach to improving processes and building capability Nōu te rourou – Why join us?  This role offers strong foundations for your accounting career.
