Description

Ozone is growing, and we’re looking for an experienced Assistant Accountant to join our team and play a key role in supporting the accuracy, compliance and efficiency of our financial operations.

This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys working across general accounting, reconciliations, reporting, payroll and process improvement. You’ll work across a fast-paced, multi-site and multi-entity environment, partnering with internal teams to ensure our financial information is accurate, timely and reliable.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Oversee the Accounts Payable and Payroll functions
  • Complete daily and weekly bank and account reconciliations using Xero
  • Investigate and resolve financial variances
  • Prepare and post journal entries and maintain the general ledger
  • Prepare monthly reconciliations and support the month-end close
  • Assist with monthly, quarterly and annual management and statutory reporting
  • Review P&L reports and identify material variances or data issues
  • Review fortnightly payroll outputs and assist with payroll accounting and queries
  • Support quarter-end and year-end processes
  • Assist with audits, R&D claims and other financial projects
  • Identify opportunities to improve financial processes and systems
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders to ensure financial information is accurate and compliant

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for a qualified accounting professional who is detail-focused, commercially minded and confident working in a fast-paced environment.

You’ll ideally have:

  • A bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance or a related discipline
  • CA, CPA or ACCA qualification or (studying towards)
  • Minimum 3 years’ relevant accounting experience
  • Experience in a multi-site or high-volume service environment such as hospitality, cleaning or labour hire
  • Strong experience with Xero
  • Experience with Employment Hero, Lightyear and Power BI highly regarded
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Strong knowledge of Australian accounting, payroll, awards and entitlements highly regarded
  • Experience with reconciliations, journals and management reporting
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • The ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
  • Strong communication skills and the confidence to work with stakeholders at all levels
