POSITION SUMMARY: Renewing Management is seeking a full-time Assistant Accountant to work out of the corporate office in Indianapolis, IN. The Assistant Accountant will handle various day-to-day accounting functions as part of the accounting team. In this position, the main duties will be processing payables to ensure all key receipts are entered and vendors receive timely payments as well as assist in month end procedures/reporting. The Assistant Accountant must have excellent attention to detail and strong organizational and communication skills. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Perform all daily accounting duties for various entities. Enter at least 100 invoices per day with the goal of clearing the accounting queue for invoices received daily. Enter invoices with detail and accuracy, ensuring all key receipts are paid in the designated period. Understand and utilize the chart of accounts to accurately code transactions. Understand the difference between standard or job costing budgets and entering invoices to the appropriate project. Maintain company spreadsheets as assigned. Collaborate with team members to ensure the invoices are downloaded from the inbox throughout the day and that mail is opened and processed daily. Audit statements and request credits for overpayments and missing invoices, when applicable. Assist in completing bank reconciliations. Assist in month end closing procedures. Generate basic accounting reports including profit and loss, balance sheets, and AP aging. Communicate with internal and external partners as needed. Perform other duties as assigned. Requirements SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS: Clear and professional communication in writing, emails, phone calls, and meetings. Strong knowledge of the accounts payable processes is a vital requirement of this position. Proficient in Google Workspace, Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel) and real estate accounting software (Entrata, Yardi, Onesite, etc.). Ability to work in a fast paced environment, both independently and as part of a team. EDUCATION, TRAINING AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Formal education or certification in accounting is preferred. 2-3 years of experience in accounts payable is preferred.
