Responsibilities

THE ROLE

This is an excellent opportunity for an accountant with a solid grounding in both transactional finance and month-end reporting who enjoys rolling up their sleeves and contributing across a broad finance function.
You will support the Finance Manager in ensuring the company’s accounts are accurate, timely, and meaningful, working closely with other departments to provide financial insight and maintain strong controls.
You’ll be hands-on with tasks such as bank reconciliations, posting journals, accruals and prepayments, and preparing balance sheet reconciliations – helping to bring accuracy and consistency to month-end reporting. You’ll also play a role in the budgeting and forecasting cycle, paying close attention to departmental overheads, conducting analysis and providing regular reports to budget holders. Intercompany reconciliations, IFRS 16 maintenance and audit support will also feature in the role.
The hiring manager is experienced, having nurtured several junior accountants, supporting their studies with varied exposure to ensure progression.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support month-end and year-end processes, including journal entries, account reconciliations, depreciation postings, and the production of financial reports.
  • Manage and analyse departmental overheads, providing reporting to budget holders.
  • Assist in preparing budgets and forecasts.
  • Maintain GR/IR balances.
  • Ensure timely and accurate CIS and VAT submissions.
  • Complete intercompany reconciliations, including payments to subsidiaries and reporting to the wider group.
  • Oversee cash management processes: monitor balances, upload payments, reconcile bank accounts, and forecast cash requirements.
  • Maintain IFRS 16 lease accounting records.
  • Prepare balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Contribute to internal audits and compliance reviews.
  • Support the implementation and improvement of financial controls and procedures.
  • Assist with commercial tasks such as raising purchase orders, sales orders, and updating project cost records.
