There is an exciting opportunity to join the Alternative Education Service on a temporary one-year contract commissioning high quality education for children who will otherwise not receive a full-time education.
The team has the responsibility for discharging the Local Authority’s duties under Section 19 of the Education Act and will work with pupils who are mostly not on a school roll. As an Assistant AES Officer, your work will include case work, referrals and monitoring of packages for primary, secondary and students with SEND.
You will have the opportunity to work alongside different teams to ensure the Local Authority is compliant with its statutory duties for both educational provision and the welfare of these pupils.
With relevant experience / qualifications, you will need to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of children’s and pupils needs and how to plan a high-quality education package, and the tenacity and determination to ensure the team achieves positive outcomes for children and young people.
This role will involve working across different teams when advocating for pupils’ needs, and effective communication skills will be an integral part of the role as well as the ability to develop existing relationships and partnerships.
