Job Description Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity 5-Month Fixed-Term Opportunity As Assistant Asset Accountant, you will support the delivery of financial asset accounting services across the University. This role ensures accurate asset-related transactions, reporting, and reconciliations, contributing to sound financial practices and compliance. You’ll assist with month-end and year-end processes, prepare asset reports, and provide support for audits and general accounting activities. Key responsibilities include: Assisting with asset-related month-end and year-end processes. Processing monthly asset journals and accruals. Preparing and reconciling asset balances and reports. Supporting internal and external audits. Maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring compliance with controls. Providing support to Faculties and Service Divisions and contributing to process documentation. For more information, please see Position Description The pay range is $80,000-$88,000pa depending on experience. This is a full-time 5 Month fixed-term role (37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday). He kōrero mōu | About you You are detail-oriented and organised, with a strong foundation in accounting principles and a collaborative approach. You can manage multiple priorities and deliver accurate work within deadlines. What you’ll bring: A BCom or equivalent qualification (or currently studying towards one). Ideally working toward CA membership with a professional accounting institute. Minimum two years’ experience in an Assistant Accountant or similar role. Knowledge of accounting best practice and strong Microsoft Office skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail.
