Description
Overview The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Eastern Virginia Medical School is seeking candidates for a tenure track faculty position at the Assistant/Associate Professor level focusing on basic and translational research in reproductive sciences. The successful applicant must have a Ph.D. or M.D., postdoctoral training and experience in reproductive sciences, an active basic/translational research program, strong interest in collaboration with existing basic and clinician scientists and participation in the translational research and Reproductive Endocrine/Infertility and Maternal Fetal Medicine fellowship programs of the Department. Competitive facilities, startup, and core resources are available to support this basic science faculty position which will also involve participation in the medical and health professions teaching programs of the department and the Ph.D. Graduate Program in Biomedical Sciences. The research focus in the department is mainly on adverse pregnancy outcomes, including diabetes, hypertensive disorders of pregnancy, preterm labor, fetal growth restriction, and stillbirth. Given that these conditions are most often related to placenta, cardiometabolic, and vascular dysfunction, track record of research in these fields would be highly desired. EVMS OBGYN has a strong interest in Women’s Health, including research and development of a Women’s Health Institute. The expectation is that the basic science track in the OBGYN Department will play a critical part towards this goal. Women, military veterans and individuals from underrepresented minority groups are strongly encouraged to apply. Qualifications Ph.D. or M.D. required Both academic appointment and salary are commensurate with qualifications and are highly competitive on a regional and national level. Location : Location US-VA-Norfolk
