POSITION SUMMARY:
Physical therapy faculty primary responsibilities include teaching assigned courses, maintaining an active and productive research agenda, as well as serving the university, community, and profession. The expected curriculum content areas or specialty practice include: 1) cardiovascular & pulmonary, 2) neurologic, and/or 3) orthopedic.
The principal responsibilities of full-time faculty members at the University of Charleston are outlined in the faculty position description published as an appendix in the Faculty Manual and include teaching, scholarship, professional development, and service to the institution. Fulfillment of these responsibilities may involve weekend, evening, off-campus, and online activities as assigned. This position may be considered for remote candidates, but periodic travel to Charleston, WV, will be required.
Faculty positions for the developing program in physical therapy are full-time, benefit eligible, twelve-month appointments reporting directly to the Program Director of the Doctor of Physical Therapy program in the Bert Bradford School of Health Sciences. The performance of faculty will be evaluated based on the expectations outlined in the Faculty Manual for faculty on the academic track. The position is considered exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act and classified as FI.
It is anticipated that two faculty positions will be filled from this search with a potential start date of August 1, 2026.
