KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of scientific theory and research and principles of immunology
  • Demonstrated skill in formulating and testing hypotheses
  • Ability to conduct scientific research experiments and to analyze and summarize data/results
  • Ability to write technical, scientific papers and grants
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Ability to mentor students and guide/direct the work of less senior scientists

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Ph.D. in Immunology or closely related field, M.D. with research experience or equivalent field and some Immunology training or experience.
Good written and oral communication skills necessary. Ability to communicate and write summaries of results required. Must be willing to serve as a project lead, assemble data, make summary slides, help with progress reports, and assist with papers/presentations.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Ph.D. in Immunology or closely related field. Previous post-doctoral experience in immunology and two or more first author publications. Interest in autoimmunity, infectious disease and/or human immune responses preferred.

Responsibilities

The James and Guthridge labs within the in the Arthritis and Clinical Immunology Research Program at OMRF are hiring two Assistant/Associate/or full Staff Scientists to join the team. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Designing and conducting research experiments
  • Preparing reports, presentations and manuscripts for publication
  • Assisting with grant writing
  • Overseeing and/or managing research projects
  • Summarizing and presenting results
  • Guiding/leading graduate students, postdocs, and lab staff; may manage staff
