Job Details Job Location: Claflin University Main Campus - Orangeburg, SC 29115 Position Type: Full Time Education Level: 4 Year Degree Travel Percentage: Up to 50% Job Shift: Day Job Category: Other Claflin University is currently accepting applications for an Assistant Athletic Trainer. This is a full-time, 12-month position with an immediate start date. Claflin University competes within the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) and Peach Belt Conference (PBC) at the NCAA Division II level. The Assistant Athletic Trainer will provide sports medicine services to Claflin University student-athletes, ensuring proper course of action regarding action and treatment and/or referral to a qualified physician. Qualifications EDUCATION: Master's degree in health and human performance with 1-3 years of experience or equivalent degree and two (2) years of experience as a BOC Certified Athletic Trainer preferred. CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES: Must be BOC certified and possess South Carolins state athletic training licensure (or be eligible for SC state licensure). Current CPR, First Aid, and AED Certification required. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Applied Knowledge: Athletic trainers must have knowledge of a large range of medical problems. Assessment, evaluation skills, and working with other healthcare professionals will be required. Decision-Making Skills: Ability to think critically and make independent decisions regarding the assessment, treatment, rehabilitation, and return to play decisions per state licensure guidelines. Attention to Detail: Athletic trainers should be thorough and detailed with injury tracking and documentation. Interpersonal Skills: Ability to communicate effectively in high stress/pressure situations when talking to patients, medical professionals, staff, and families. Must have the ability to organize, prioritize, and preform multiple tasks with little or no supervision.
Responsibilities
The Assistant Athletic Trainer will provide sports medicine services to Claflin University student-athletes. This includes ensuring proper treatment and referral to qualified physicians as needed.
