Description
The Ohio Attorney General's Office is seeking three experienced, licensed attorneys with a passion for public service, demonstrated commitment to protecting the unprotected, and an ability to work effectively with different clients for an Assistant Attorney General opening in the Health and Human Services Section. The Health and Human Services Section is a litigation-oriented section that represents state agencies in the healthcare, licensing, and public benefit areas. Most cases are brought pursuant to Ohio Rev. Code Chapter 119, which is the state counterpart to the federal Administrative Procedure Act. The Section represents both regulatory boards and state agencies, and is divided into five units, as follows: 1) Regulatory Board Unit 2) Health Unit 3) Unemployment Services Unit 4) Human Services Unit and 5) Developmental Disabilities and Mental Health. This position will primarily represent various state-agency clients in administrative hearings sanctioning health care providers who have violated licensing and other laws. It will also defend state-agency clients from lawsuits in state and federal court, and perform other duties as assigned. The successful candidates will possess strong oral, written and verbal communication skills, be able to articulate complex legal matters, and exhibit creativity and innovation in their role as an assistant attorney general. The ideal candidates for this position will have experience with administrative appeals and possess strong writing skills. These positions will be headquartered in our Columbus office and will work a hybrid in-person/remote schedule. There may be changes to this schedule based on training and operational needs.
