Position Summary The Assistant Bakery Manager supports the Bakery Manager in overseeing daily bakery operations to ensure high‑quality products, strong sales performance, food safety compliance, and excellent customer service. This role helps supervise bakery associates, maintains production and merchandising standards, and ensures efficient department execution. Key Responsibilities * Assist in managing daily bakery operations, including production, merchandising, and sales execution * Ensure bakery products meet quality, freshness, and presentation standards * Support ordering, inventory control, and shrink reduction efforts * Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, and health regulations * Assist with scheduling, training, coaching, and supervising bakery associates * Maintain proper product rotation, labeling, and dating procedures * Support execution of promotional plans, seasonal programs, and displays * Monitor bakery equipment cleanliness and operational readiness * Deliver excellent customer service and resolve customer concerns professionally * Step into Bakery Manager responsibilities when assigned or during absences * Communicate department needs, performance, and issues to store leadership Qualifications * High school diploma or equivalent preferred * One or more years of bakery, food service, or retail experience preferred * Prior leadership or supervisory experience preferred * Knowledge of bakery production, merchandising, and food safety standards * Ability to lift up to 50 lbs; frequent standing, bending, and reaching * Strong organizational and time‑management skills * Ability to work flexible schedules, including early mornings, weekends, and holidays * Strong communication and teamwork skills Core Competencies * Food quality and freshness focus * Bakery production and merchandising * Team leadership and development * Food safety and sanitation compliance * Inventory and waste control * Customer service excellence Pay Transparency: Starting rates will be no less than the local minimum wage and may vary based on things like location, experience, qualifications, and the terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement. Candidates with unique qualifications may be considered for compensation above this range. Dependent on length of service, hours worked, any applicable collective bargaining agreement and/or Company policy, benefits may include medical, dental, vision, disability and life insurance, sick pay*, PTO/Vacation pay*, paid holidays*, bereavement pay and retirement benefits (pension and/or 401(k) eligibility).  Associates in this position may be eligible for a quarterly bonus, subject to Company bonus plans. Applications are accepted on an on-going basis.   *For roles in Washington State: Sick pay and PTO/Vacation pay are accrued based on hours worked and paid holidays are issued at 7-9 days annually.
