Position: Assistant Band Director  Reports to: Academy and Upper Middle School Principal, supports Band Director   Position type: Exempt, Full-time, Contracted  Position Summary:   Assist with leading a thriving concert and marching band program that encourages student musicians to develop their skills and talents while inspiring them to follow Jesus in all that they do   QUALITIES + QUALIFICATIONS  Uphold Biblical priorities through a growing personal relationship with Jesus.  Become an active member of FB Concord or be an active member of a local like-minded bible teaching church   Develop personal evangelism opportunities within and outside the church.  Encompass the qualities and characteristics of Concord staff members as outlined in our Staff Values.  Bachelor’s degree as an instrumental music educator  Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to work with and lead a team   1stAid/CPR certification preferred – able to obtain upon hire   RESPONSIBILITIES  Assist with providing clear, consistent communication with parents, musicians, teachers and administration   Maintain knowledge of best practices in instrumental music to assist program in competitive growth   Support the development of annual half-time show – purchasing and arranging music as needed for the instrumentation needs of the ensemble  Help develop creative ways to add funds to team’s account   Assist with team and community summer camps to develop skills   Support the Director in selecting and teaching Pep Tunes and concert pieces  Support a thriving Concert Band Program across grade levels  Conduct rehearsals before and after school as schedule requires. Assist with weekend and evening competitions and clinics as program needs   Assist with auditions for various positions: drum majors, squad leaders & captains  Participate in CCS events as required or requested by Band Director   WORKING CONDITIONS  Typically, a 5-day work week in a class, concert and field environment, evening and weekends will be required pre and during marching season. Standing, bending, walking and moving instruments up to 25lbs. Responsibilities
The Assistant Band Director supports the lead director in managing the concert and marching band program, including rehearsals, competitions, and student skill development. They are responsible for clear communication with stakeholders and assisting with the logistical and creative needs of the ensemble.
