Arlington County’s Department of Human Services (DHS) is seeking 2 (two) experienced clinicians and behavioral health leaders to serve as Assistant Behavioral Health Managers within the Intensive Care Coordination Program and Outpatient Services Program in the Child and Family Services Division. Children’s Behavioral Health is responsible for providing comprehensive, trauma informed, culturally responsive mental health and substance use services to help youth, with the support of their parents, thrive in their environments. Services for youth are provided in their homes, school, community and the DHS office. These positions will provide administrative, clinical, and licensure supervision and support to staff, program development, as well as providing direct services (High-fidelity Wraparound (HFW)/Intensive Care Coordination (ICC), and/or therapy, case management, and court notice responding services to a modified caseload. Specific duties include:

  • Providing clinical, licensure, and administrative supervision of assigned staff/interns as directed by Manager (including conducting chart audits, supporting compliance standards, case load management and monitoring, training and onboarding, etc.);
  • Providing direct services (High Fidelity Wraparound/Intensive Care Coordination, mental health, and/or substance use therapy or case management and responding to a modified caseload of youth and families.
  • Assisting Managers with program development and coordination to address identified behavioral health needs and implement best practices-including development of polices and protocols, performance measures/outcome reporting and other process improvements;
  • Facilitating linkages with ancillary services and community supports;
  • Participating in community outreach and engagement activities related to behavioral health and/or potential clients and families;
  • Representing CFSD & DHS in behavioral health related workgroups and committees; and
  • Ensuring policy requirements are met for accurate and timely clinical documentation and productivity standards.

The ideal candidate will be flexible, able to work under pressure, perform as a team player, possess strong documentation skills, and be familiar with evidence-based practices, recovery/trauma informed care/cultural responsiveness principles, and person-centered care.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Driver’s License: The applicant must possess, or obtain by time of appointment, a valid driver’s license. The applicant must authorize Arlington County to obtain or provide a copy of their official driving record. Any offer of employment may be contingent upon a favorable review of the applicant’s driving record.
Background Check: A pre-employment criminal records check will be conducted. It may include checks of the following: criminal record, driving record, education, professional licensure, and credit history. You may be required to sign a release authorizing the County to obtain your background information. A pre-hire federal background check and State of Virginia Central Registry check will also be completed before hire.

Employment restrictions: To ensure that dual relationships are avoided and that employees who are also clients do not relate to their service provider as co-professionals, employees will not be hired by the County to provide or support services to the team or program in which they are current clients:

  • You cannot concurrently receive behavioral health services from Arlington County Community Service Board (CSB) programs while employed in an Arlington County CSB program (exception Crisis Intervention services).At least 24 months must have passed between receipt of CSB services from Arlington County and employment in an Arlington County CSB program.
