Description

Location: Strathcona, Vancouver
Position Type: Full Time (32–40 hrs/week) or Part Time (min. 24 hrs/week, flexible for the right person)
Schedule: Can be flexible, with minimum one weekend day required. Primarily day-shifts, but some evening events required on occasion.

OVERVIEW

The Garden is a cozy café, event space, retail shop and community hub in Strathcona. We serve vibrant food and drink with heart, and host meaningful gatherings — from private celebrations to creative workshops.
As we grow, we’re looking for a passionate Assistant Manager to join our leadership team — someone excited to focus on event coordination, marketing, and guest experience, while supporting daily café operations.
You’ll work alongside our current Assistant Manager, who focuses on inventory and café systems. Together, you’ll ensure The Garden thrives day-to-day, while you take the lead in growing our event space and brand presence.

Responsibilities

This is a dynamic role blending hospitality leadership with creative growth opportunities.
You’ll lead café shifts, manage event bookings, and run our social media/marketing efforts — helping The Garden become a go-to destination for community gatherings and private events.
We’re also in early stages of expanding into a licensed wine bar and patio — so there’s potential for this role to evolve into a senior management position for someone inspired by hospitality, events, and future wine programming.

Your Core Responsibilities:

  • Lead and support café shifts with warmth, organization, and hospitality
  • Respond promptly to all event inquiries and manage bookings from start to finish
  • Book private events, workshops, pop-ups — and help bring them to life
  • Coordinate event logistics, invoicing, and client communications
  • Create and manage social media content (Instagram & Facebook)
  • Collaborate on marketing campaigns, local partnerships, and community engagement ideas
  • Support staff scheduling, training, and morale alongside the owner and fellow Assistant Manager
  • Contribute ideas for improving guest experience and growing event revenue
