Job Details Job Location: Rockhurst University - Kansas City, MO Salary Range: Undisclosed Description Rockhurst University is seeking applications for our Assistant Cheer Coach. This position is responsible for ensuring a positive student-athlete experience through cheer practice instruction, gameday contributions, and cheer events. This position will create a positive team culture and contribute to an energetic gameday environment. This position is performed in a fast-paced athletic environment. There will be on court and off court responsibilities. The schedule is non-traditional in nature. Work in this area requires knowledge of cheer, ability to participate in practice responsibilities, and a focus on recruiting prospective student athletes. Some travel is involved. Accountabilities (these are the ‘big picture' responsibilities) Recruitment – Video evaluation, on campus visits, attending in person events Assist with team travel – organizing lodging, team travel, and dining if applicable Compliance – Pass all institutional modules, participate in mandatory trainings, monitor and access Teamworks software Practice planning – Assist coach with creating and running practices and other off court sessions Game Preparation – Prepare team for gameday or competitions Academic Success – Assist coach in monitoring academic success and progress towards degree. Assist with strategies that align with academic commitment. Instruct – Motivate and instruct athletes in a practice and competitive environment, both on and off the court. Events – Assist with alumni, campus, or community engagement events. Classification Summary: This is a non-contractual position but is subject to annual renewal of appointment based on performance and departmental needs. Minimum Education and/or Training and Experience: Two (2) years of experience as a participant or coach. Required Knowledge: Ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of individuals.
