JOB SUMMARY

Connect Catering is an award wining contract caterer.
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Assistant Chef to join our team.
This role is a 5 out of 7 days role, on a rota, shifts vary either 6:30 am to 15:00 or 11:00 am to 19:30 (all shifts include 30 minutes unpaid break)
The ideal candidate will assist in food preparation and cooking, ensuring that all dishes meet our high standards of quality and presentation. This role requires a strong understanding of food safety practices and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. The Assistant Chef will also play a vital role in supervising kitchen staff and maintaining a harmonious working atmosphere.

SKILLS

  • Proven experience as a cook or in a similar culinary role within a restaurant setting.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices.
  • Excellent culinary skills with a passion for creating high-quality dishes.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to supervise and motivate team members.
  • Good communication skills to collaborate effectively with both kitchen and front-of-house staff.
  • A background in hospitality is advantageous, along with a commitment to delivering exceptional customer experiences.

Responsibilities
  • Assist the Head Chef in the preparation and cooking of meals, ensuring consistency in taste and presentation.
  • Maintain high standards of food safety and hygiene throughout the kitchen.
  • Help in menu planning and development, contributing creative ideas for new dishes.
  • Supervise kitchen staff during service, providing guidance and support as needed.
  • Ensure that all kitchen equipment is properly maintained and cleaned after use.
  • Assist with inventory management, including ordering supplies and minimizing waste.
  • Collaborate with front-of-house staff to ensure smooth service delivery.
  • Participate in training new kitchen staff on food preparation techniques and safety protocols.
