Assistant Chief Engineer 🔧 About the Role As Assistant Chief Engineer, you will support the Chief Engineer in overseeing all engineering and facilities operations for the resort. The role focuses on maintaining plant reliability, guest comfort, safety, and compliance with regulatory and company standards while contributing to the pre-opening and ongoing smooth operation of a 5‑star property. Department: Maintenance Location: RIU Sri Lanka 🔎 Key Responsibilities Assist in daily leadership of engineering operations including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, pool plant, and kitchen equipment to ensure uninterrupted guest services. Support preventive maintenance programs, coordinate schedules, and ensure accurate record keeping of inspections, work orders, and asset logs. Supervise, coach, and develop engineering and maintenance team members; foster a safety-first culture and high performance standards. Collaborate with Chief Engineer on budget preparation, cost control, spare parts inventory, and supplier/vendor management. Ensure compliance with local regulations, environmental requirements, and company technical standards; assist with audits and inspections. Respond to engineering emergencies and guest requests; provide technical troubleshooting and timely resolution. Contribute to pre-opening planning and handover activities, including commissioning, testing, and readiness of building systems. ✔️ What We’re Looking For Experience: At least 2 years of experience in a comparable role within a luxury or star-rated establishment. Technical Skills: Proven knowledge of HVAC, electrical distribution, plumbing, refrigeration, and building automation systems. Ability to read mechanical/electrical drawings and schematics. Education/Certifications: Diploma or degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Building Services, or related field; trade certifications or licences desirable. Other Requirements: Strong organizational and communication skills in English (spoken and written).
