Glasgow City Health and Social Care Partnership (GCHSCP) is seeking to appoint an exceptional individual to the post of Assistant Chief Officer – Adult Services. This is a senior leadership role, reporting to the Chief Officer – Operations and Chief Social Work Officer, with responsibility for the strategic and operational delivery of Adult Health and Social Care services across Glasgow.
The successful candidate will provide vision, leadership and operational oversight for a wide portfolio of adult services, including Alcohol and Drug Recovery Services, Mental Health Services, Learning Disabilities, Complex Needs and Sexual Health Services. They will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality, person-centred services that meet the strategic objectives of the HSCP and comply with national standards and statutory responsibilities.
This role requires a dynamic and experienced leader who can drive forward transformational change, develop and implement commissioning and workforce strategies, and lead service redesign and integration. The post holder will represent the HSCP at local, regional and national levels, and will play a key role in shaping policy, contributing to capital planning, and engaging with the Scottish Government on matters relating to adult services.
Applicants must be educated to Master’s level in a relevant field and possess extensive senior leadership experience within the NHS, local government, or a comparable public or third sector organisation. A proven track record of strategic planning, service transformation, and partnership working is essential, along with a deep understanding of the legislative and policy context for health and social care in Scotland.
The successful candidate will demonstrate strong political awareness, excellent communication and influencing skills, and the ability to lead in a complex, multi-professional environment. They will be expected to work autonomously, exercise sound judgement, and contribute to the wider strategic direction of the HSCP.
This is an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of adults across Glasgow, supporting the HSCP’s vision of enabling people to live healthier, more fulfilled lives within resilient communities.
This is an integrated position as part of the Glasgow City Health and Social Care Partnership. Applications are invited from current employees of Glasgow City Health & Social Care Partnership Social Work and NHS Services. The successful applicant will be appointed to the post under their current employers (GCC or NHS) terms and conditions and work to the relevant job description attached.
