Key Accountabilities
· Assist the Chief Power Engineer by managing and supervising the Steam Plant Shift Power Engineers and the daily Steam Plant and Utilities operations, shift scheduling, assigning work tasks, etc.,
· Communicates with the Production Supervisors, Process Engineers, and the Maintenance Team to help reach production targets and facility reliability,
· Operate in the capacity of the Chief Power Engineer when they are absent from site by carrying out supervisory responsibilities Team meetings, attend meetings, etc.),
· Required to fully understand the purpose and operation of the Stean Generation, Refrigeration, Potable Water, Firewater Pumping and Wastewater Monitoring systems and have the ability to make operations and maintenance decisions based on sound judgment as required,
· Helps to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the Utilities systems in full compliance with Regulatory and Roquette requirements and policies,
· Assists the Chief Power Engineer, and others, troubleshooting equipment or system failures and determining work requirements and proper reporting of deficiencies,
· Accountable for timely and complete investigations, remedying safety concerns, educating employee on hazards and risk mitigation within area of responsibilities.
· Assist the Chief Power Engineer and encourages participation by the Shift Power Engineers, and others, with documented ideas for continuous improvement and long term reliability and sustainability,
· Assists the Chief Power Engineer with maintaining accurate documentation for all boilers, pressure vessels, safety relief valves and other equipment as directed,
· Performs assigned responsibilities during plant evacuations due to fire and gas.
· Promptly identifying and addressing unsafe conditions.
· Assist in the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) and equipment lockouts (LOTO’s),
EXPERIENCE
· 5 – 7 years’ experience working in an industrial manufacturing environment,
· Experience in operating large Utilities facilities (power distribution, steam generation, vacuum systems, compressed air systems, water distribution systems),
· Good knowledge and experience with equipment troubleshooting is required,
· Control room experience – monitor complex processes and coordinate critical activities,
· Maintenance experience – prioritize assets maintenance to ensure plant reliability.
SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS
· Must be able to work under extreme conditions, such as hot, wet and cold environments (inside and outside of the Plant),
· Must be able to climb stairs, ladders, scaffolding and able to work at heights and in confined spaces,

THE ROLE:
We are looking for our next Assistant Deputy Chief Engineer. This person will Report to the Chief Power Engineer, and is responsible for assisting the Chief Power Engineer, specifically for the daily and weekly operations of the Steam Generation, Refrigeration, Compressed Air, Effluent Water, Plant Water, Firewater Supply and Natural Gas systems.
This position is located in Portage la Prairie, MB
