UPMC Hamot School of Nursing is seeking a Full-Time Assistant Clinical Instructor to join our academic team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to impact nursing education and patient care through hands-on clinical teaching.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Assistant Clinical Instructor is a nursing professional with the authority, responsibility, and accountability for the clinical instruction of students at UPMC Schools of Nursing. This role requires a strong foundation in nursing practice, clinical judgment, and a commitment to providing high-quality, evidence-based instruction during students’ clinical practicum experiences.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required
  • Minimum 3 years of clinical nursing experience required
  • Precepting experience required; clinical teaching experience in a pre-licensure program preferred
  • Must be actively enrolled in a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) program with a 3-year completion plan
  • Appointment and continued employment contingent upon approval by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing
Responsibilities
  • Provide effective, evidence-based clinical instruction to groups of nursing students.
  • Design meaningful clinical assignments based on individual student learning needs.
  • Serve as a professional role model, promoting critical thinking, clinical reasoning, and ethical practice.
  • Create a respectful, inclusive learning environment that values student diversity.
  • Collaborate with fellow faculty and healthcare professionals to meet academic and organizational goals.
  • Offer timely, constructive feedback and evaluations to support student development.
  • Mentor and support students through active engagement, knowledge sharing, and reflection.
  • Apply the nursing process and sound clinical judgment to real-world patient care situations.
  • Promote lifelong learning and actively participate in self-assessment and professional growth.
  • Share outcomes and best practices with peers and participate in academic improvement efforts.
