Overview:
The Esports Assistant Coach supports the Head Coach in all aspects of team development and operations. This includes assisting with practices, mentoring student-athletes, and helping to foster a positive, inclusive, and competitive team environment. The Assistant Coach plays a key role in promoting academic and athletic success, sportsmanship, and personal growth.
An assistant coach will be hired to assist the Head Coach or Director for certain video game titles Brookdale Esports will compete in at the varsity level. This position operates during the Fall and Spring seasons. The anticipated time commitment is 4-7 hrs/wk; fewer hours in the off-season.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in planning and conducting team practices and training sessions.
  • Support the instruction of fundamental and advanced Esports skills.
  • Help supervise student-athletes during practices, competitions, and team events.
  • Contribute to recruitment efforts and outreach to prospective student-athletes.
  • Encourage academic achievement and support departmental academic initiatives.
  • Assist with equipment management and game-day logistics.
  • Promote team discipline, respect, and open communication.
  • Participate in team recognition events and awards ceremonies.
  • Comply with rules, regulations and codes.
  • Complete required administrative tasks and reports as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as delegated by the Head Coach or Director of Esports.

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Associate degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • At least one year of coaching or competitive Esports experience; college-level experience preferred.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Passion for mentoring and developing student-athletes.

Preferred Qualifications & Special Considerations:

  • Knowledge of Monmouth County and its communities.
  • Must work flexible hours, local and overnight travel required.
