The Kansas City Mavericks, proud ECHL affiliate of the Seattle Kraken (NHL) and Coachella Valley Firebirds (AHL), are seeking a dedicated and driven Assistant Coach to join our Hockey Operations Staff. This full-time role reports directly to the General Manager & Head Coach and is a highly motivated individual who is passionate about player development, team success, and recruiting elite talent.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Background in hockey as a player, coach, or evaluator at the professional, collegiate, or junior level.
  • Passion for developing and mentoring professional athletes.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a collaborative coaching staff.
Responsibilities
  • Player Development
  • Assist in planning and conducting high-level on-ice practices, with an emphasis on skill development and execution.
  • Implement and teach team systems and individual tactics.
  • Provide consistent mentorship and feedback to players.
  • Lead off-ice conditioning sessions and oversee athlete performance plans.
  • Manage video breakdown and support personalized player development plans.

Game Planning

  • Contribute to strategic planning for games and practices.
  • Analyze game footage and break down team and opponent tendencies.
  • Assist in preparing scouting reports and tactical adjustments.

Hockey Operations

  • Coordinate monthly team schedules and practice planning.
  • Organize team travel, itineraries, and daily logistics.
  • Collaborate on all day-to-day operational aspects of the hockey program.

Recruiting

  • Play an active role in scouting and recruiting to strengthen the team’s talent pool.
  • Maintain relationships with agents, scouts, and contacts at the junior and collegiate levels.
