SUMMARY:
New York Edge is looking for a Community School Assistant Director to assist with establishing a high and visible presence within the school building supporting the Community School Director in assuming a strong leadership role and holistic approach toward improving academic performances driven by strong, collaborative partnerships among principals, parents, teachers, and CBO’s throughout the school year. The Community Schools Assistant Director will assist in the overall administration and implementation of the Community Schools program under the supervision of the Community School Director including but not limited to: trainings, theme based projects, scheduling of activities, daily supervision of staff, record keeping and reporting, communicating with parents and organizing special events. The Assistant Director will work with the Community School Director in ensuring all components of the contract are being implemented in alignment with the vision of New York Edge and the Principal. New York Edge Assistant Director must embrace positive school climate and youth development principles and practices that supports the community school as a whole. These include building on youth strengths rather than focusing on youth deficits; setting and maintaining high expectations; understanding the centrality of and fostering positive relationships with peers and adults; providing age-appropriate and challenging programming; engaging participants as partners, not just as consumers of services; promoting positive identity formation and helping young people to fully develop their potential.
