CONSTRUCTION SITE SUPERINTENDENT

Join a well-established construction and design-build engineering firm with over three decades of success and a growing team of more than 60 field professionals.

As we expand our operations in Calgary, we are seeking an experienced Assistant Site Superintendent to lead and oversee industrial and commercial projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing sub-trades and effectively managing daily on-site activities under the direction of the Project Superintendent to whom the Assistant Superintendent will report to.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in an Assistant Superintendent/Lead Hand role
  • Experience with commercial or light industrial construction projects
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Strong understanding of construction terms, scheduling and planning concepts
  • Strong computer skills for communication with a working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Ability to travel, work out of town, and work evenings from time to time
  • Ability do physical labour when required

    - Valid driver’s licence

Responsibilities
  • Study with the project plans, specifications, and Master/TWLA schedules with a view to identifying and reporting potential construction problems
  • Open the job-site at beginning of the day and secure the job-site at the end of the work day
  • Review and ensure the QC program is being followed and ensures the highest quality of workmanship is advanced by all parties (both workers and sub-trades)
  • Maintain control and responsibility for the security and safe operation of the company’s directly owned and externally rented equipment on the job site
  • Maintain a safe job site and ensure that the requirements of the Occupational and Safety Act are enforced
  • Identify and report subcontractor non-compliance with safety, health, environmental and quality standards
  • Maintain and enforce good construction means, methods and standards
  • Oversee, direct and monitor labour, material and equipment

    - Ensure that the job site is always kept in a clean and organized manner
