The School of Arts, Design and Architecture is seeking an ASSISTANT CONTROLLER for a fixed term position to work in a vibrant and inspiring community of students, researchers and experts. The work begins at Spring 2025 as soon as possible and ends 30th June, 2026.
Your role and goals
Your main responsibility is supporting and coaching the academic departments in financial administration – ensuring a solid base for education portfolio management from financial point of view with close cooperation with HR and Learning services. You report to the department controller and work closely with the whole finance team.
Your daily tasks include financial management, reporting and planning of the educational budgets. You work closely with department’s controller to ensure the quality of department’s financial management. You also participate to development of financial processes and reporting. You use your problem-solving skills to support academic faculty with financial matters and you have a genuine desire to understand the operations behind the numbers. Your tasks include specific responsibilities such as financial administration of the study programs (monitoring, reporting and participation in budgeting) and collaboration projects with companies, communities, universities and public sector.

Your experience and ambitions

  • You have good knowledge in accounting, financial administration and understanding of the financial processes and tools.
  • You have already gained 2-5 years of broader experience within financial administration/controlling/financial management and have a Bachelor´s or Master´s degree from relevant field.
  • You communicate fluently in Finnish and English.
  • You have a customer service-oriented mindset and you can work independently and hands-on.
  • You are eager to learn new systems.
  • You have strong analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills and you can see the big picture. Your approach to work is independent, precise and responsible.
  • You have the ability to handle challenging situations in a constructive and positive manner and you are used to deadlines.

Salary is based on University salary system level 8. Depending on the selected candidate’s experience, monthly salary ranges between 3200 and 3500€ per month.
