POSITION SUMMARY:

The Assistant Controller will play a key role in supporting the financial operations of Andy Gump, Inc. This position involves overseeing the accounting department, managing financial reporting, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, assisting with cost control measures, and financial analysis. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, excellent analytical skills, attention to details and a humble yet confident approach when interacting with our customers, vendors and team members. This position will report to the CFO.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field; CPA preferred
  • Minimum 3 years in an Assistant Controller role
  • Minimum 5+ years supervising and managing team members
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting standards
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics Navision and Quickbooks a plus
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize, meet deadlines and change focus or direction when needed.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment and lead by example.
  • Effective and proficient understanding and use of excel and other Office Suite programs and technology tools.
Responsibilities
  • Assist in managing the day-to-day operations of the accounting department, accounts payable and general ledger. Additional oversight and coordination of accounts receivable and payroll team members.
  • Oversee the reconciliation of bank accounts and monitor daily cash flow.
  • Preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual Sales and Use Tax filings and audits.
  • Prepare all annual 571-L Business Property Statement Filings.
  • Manage all Fixed Asset additions, disposals and depreciation.
  • Coordinate, review and manage annual insurance policies and renewals.
  • File all US Census Bureau reporting requests (quarterly & annually).
  • Support the CFO in preparing accurate and timely financial statements and reports.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and other regulatory requirements.
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and financial analyses to support management decision-making.
  • Collaborate with Supervisors, Managers and other departments to ensure accurate accounting and reporting.
  • Assist in the ongoing improvement of internal controls and financial policies to safeguard company assets.
  • Manage the preparation of audit work papers and coordinate with external auditors during annual audits.
  • Provide support in the preparation of tax returns and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of accounting processes and systems.
  • Mentor, train and grow accounting staff, providing guidance and support as needed.
  • Perform financial analysis and reporting as requested by senior management.
  • Additional duties as requested or assigned.
